Discover this architectural jewel of Quebec.

Built in the 18th century, the Moulin seigneurial de Pointe-du-Lac in Trois-Rivières is one of Quebec’s finest jewels of rural architecture. Discover this place where history, flour and wood blend with the beauty of the surrounding countryside.

Bake bread the old-fashioned way

If we’re talking flour, then bread is the next logical step! And to learn all about the art of baking it, there’s nothing quite like making it yourself! That’s why the mill offers bread-making workshops (webpage available in French only) to show visitors how they can prepare their own dough and bake it the old-fashioned way in the outdoor bread oven. The history of bread also weaves its way into the workshop. While you’re waiting for the magic to work, take a guided tour of the mill. Your patience will be rewarded: nothing beats the pleasure of biting into freshly baked bread!

Stroll along the forest trails

The Seignorial forest trails are a vast, preserved natural area with over 6 km of marked trails that run from the mill, through an exceptional forest environment and all the way to the Saint-Charles River. It’s a place where you can explore local history through the testimonies of community members and interpretation panels featuring excerpts from poetic works. It promises a total immersion in the beauty and history of the borough of Pointe-du-Lac.

Admire the works of art

All summer long, the mill opens its doors to Quebec artists and presents a number of exhibitions. Discover a series of real or fictional self-portraits by photographer Monique Dupras; works that make you smile by painter Caroline Singler; photos between heaven and earth by photographers Pier Jobidon and Sébastien Paquette; paintings by Odette Simard; collective works from the L’invisible perceptible project; and works by graduates of the Cégep de Trois-Rivières visual arts program exhibited outdoors on the trails. All of your senses will be heightened in the bright and welcoming exhibition spaces, especially when combined with the smell of freshly baked bread!

Visit two other gems of rural Mauricie

After your visit of the mill, continue your journey along the Chemin du Roy to visit two other sites. First, the Vieux presbytère de Batiscan, a presbytery built in 1816, promises many fascinating discoveries about the evolution of daily life in Quebec. Then there’s the Domaine seigneurial Sainte-Anne, a seignorial estate bearing witness to three centuries of history.
