Discover two new captivating exhibitions

From May 16 to September 1, the MBAS will brighten up your summer with an exceptional program. The 7th edition of the Contemporary Native Art Biennal presents the works of both up-and-coming and well-established Canadian artists centred around the theme “Creation Stories (Land/Medicines)” offering a unique experience for art enthusiasts. Also presented, the exhibition Louis-Pierre Bougie. Human Nature and the Artists of the Ateliers Dufferin highlights the sensitive world of this master engraver and painter through more than 40 works, many of which have never been shown in public before. By the way, did you know that this talented artist is behind the cover artwork for the 1975 album titled Si on avait besoin d’une cinquième saison by Quebec band Harmonium?

Summon your inner artist during a creative workshop

Once again this summer, the MBAS invites you to enjoy a creative workshop, From the Footbridge to the Musée, in an enchanting setting, where you can express your creativity by sketching a landscape inspired by the museum’s collection. Designed for adults, this fun activity begins on the footbridge overlooking the Magog River Gorge and ends in the MBAS educational workshop. Charcoal, dry pastel or graphite pencil in hand, you’ll learn to draw outdoors and enjoy a unique creative experience!

Enjoy an educational workshop with the family

Starting June 29, don’t miss your chance to participate in a creative workshop, Exploration of Collections. To start each session, you’ll join a mediator for a guided observation of an artwork from the museum’s collection, then do your own artistic exploration using materials such as clay, blood chalk, watercolour, embossed metal or faux stained glass. You’ll also have the opportunity to take part in fun creative challenges, such as making a handmade ornament or a small animal sculpture. At the end of the workshop, of course, you’ll get to keep your creation and continue exploring everything the museum has to offer.
