The Manoir Boucher de Niverville is one of the oldest private homes in Canada. Located in Trois-Rivières, this historical gem offers a glimpse of bourgeois life in the days of New France, as well as a variety of cultural activities!

Please note that knowledge of French is necessary to appreciate most of the activities.

Visit the manor

The Manoir Boucher de Niverville, a major element of the heritage of Trois-Rivières, is a French-inspired seigneurial residence built in 1668, whose architecture is distinguished by its original wooden foundation and framework. The exhibition Vie bourgeoise - Les dessous de la mondanité en Nouvelle-France (translated as Bourgeois life – Behind the scenes of worldliness in New France) allows visitors to experience the unique ambience of this historic residence. Visitors can use an audioguide to be transported into the daily life of a bourgeois couple in the days of New France, and learn all about the food, clothing, manners and customs of the period.

The GPS rally

Located halfway between Québec City and Montréal, Trois-Rivières is a major city known for rich heritage and culture. To discover it in an original and fun way, Manoir Boucher de Niverville offers a GPS rally (webpage available in French only) so visitors can go on a treasure hunt through the city. After collecting the necessary equipment at the Manoir, explorers set off in search of hidden items in the downtown area. It's the perfect way to explore the rich history of Quebec's second oldest city and discover little-known facts.

Storytelling

Le Manoir also offers a rich cultural program, including the unmissable storytelling evenings around the fire (activity in French only). On August 9, 2024, guest storyteller Lucie Bisson will present her show Ben, ça parle au Diable! in which tales, stories and legends come together in a tumult of characters who cross paths in humorous ways. On August 16, 2024, Marc-André Fortin hosts the evening, with Le tiraillement entre l'arbre et la rivière, featuring village anecdotes and linguistic images. Please note that, in the event of rain, these shows are presented indoors, where seating is limited. Weather permitting, they are presented outside and open to everyone, free of charge!
