Taking place in the village of Val-David in the heart of the Laurentians, 1001 Pots is a major outdoor exhibition that celebrates the excellence of contemporary Quebec ceramics. For its 35th edition, running until August 18, 2024, the event brings together over a hundred ceramists eager to share their expertise and showcase their unique creations. From fun activities for the whole family to special music concerts, here’s an overview of what awaits you!

Courses and workshops for budding artists

Fancy a hands-on introduction to ceramics? There are plenty of options for a first experience at 1001 Pots. Kids will love the handbuilding courses created just for them, while adults can immerse themselves in this creative world for an intensive day (or week!) of throwing. If you’re short of time, there’s something for you, too! Get a taste of this art during a one-hour introductory course on weekends. Book your spot!

Music and ceramics, the perfect marriage

To give 1001 Pots a musical edge, jazz concerts are offered every Saturday from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Explore the site to the sounds of renowned artists, or take a break to sit back and watch them perform. On Friday, August 2, at 11 a.m., and Friday, August 9, at 7:30 p.m., baroque music performances will also transport visitors on an auditory journey around the world in the enchanting setting of Val-David’s Jardin de Silice.

Decorate ceramics for a good cause

On August 3 and 4, don’t miss Empty Bowls, a free event during which you can decorate bowls made by participating ceramists. The bowls will then be sold in the fall at the local market, Marché de Val-David, to raise funds for the local food bank. It’s a great opportunity to take part in this worldwide solidarity movement!

Step into the world of Lysanne Larose

To support artistic creation and development, 1001 Pots welcomes artists in residence every year. In 2024, you’ll have the pleasure of entering the creative universe of Lysanne Larose, a self-taught visual artist, from August 5 to 9. A unique chance to witness art in action and see her in the throes of creation!

For an extra surprise: puppets to entertain the whole family!

If you visit the exhibition between now and July 28, you’ll also get to attend the 1001 Patentes qui Bougent festival, featuring a puppet theatre and masked performances. Shows, workshops and exhibitions will bring the 1001 Pots site to life, to the delight of children and adults alike!
