Do you ever find yourself watching the weeks go by in the fall without taking the time to savour seasonal delights, to treat yourself to moments of relaxation, or even just to fully appreciate the changing colours? We don’t want that to happen to you this year! That’s why we want to share 4 ideas to make the most of fall, along with some out-of-the-ordinary activities and themed events.

Taste an explosion of flavour

Explore the Coaticook Valley and its extraordinary attractions! The Virée gourmande des Comptonales on October 12 and 13 is a can’t-miss harvest event and the perfect opportunity to tour orchards, cheese dairies, cider houses and vineyards. You can then enjoy a grilled cheese at La Station cheese factory, play mini-golf at Glo Golf Aventures (located in a deconsecrated church!) or sleep in one of the unusual pods at the Auberge du changement d’ère. Until October 14, you can also visit Parc de la Gorge de Coaticook and the Foresta Lumina nighttime trail, as well as Parc Découverte Nature.

Local flavours can also be enjoyed in a more urban setting! Hotel Manoir Victoria in Québec City owes its gastronomic reputation to Chez Boulay - bistro boréal, which skillfully blends French savoir-faire with Nordic-inspired dishes featuring unusual seasonal ingredients. And since it’s grape harvest season now, why not take the opportunity to salute wine production by making a reservation at Le Bedeau, which puts wine in the spotlight and invites you on a quest for the perfect pairing!

Relax in wonderful settings

Espace Aqua-Détente is a peaceful haven in the heart of the Auberge Godefroy hotel, and access is included with lodging and packages! The outdoor facilities are perfect for combining fall foliage with well-deserved rest. And to continue in relaxation mode, take a seat at the table at the on-site restaurant to enjoy tasty dishes created from local produce.

Want to discover the spectacular autumnal beauty of Charlevoix? Head for the Petit Manoir du Casino! On site is the O’Quartz Spa, a one-of-a-kind spa in Quebec, that is built right into a natural cliff. It also features a waterfall, large bay windows and a magnificent patio to admire the St. Lawrence River. Simply the perfect spot to take it easy and focus on wellbeing!

Get into Halloween!

Fall is also a time to admire the creativity of Halloween decorations, and why not dress up for the occasion! From October 11 to 31, Exporail welcomes you for a Railway Ghosts program of activities. Train rides, candies for the kids and themed activities will all entertain families, who can also learn more about trains and the life of railwaymen by climbing aboard vehicles and exploring the impressive collection of artifacts.

Planning to wear a lion, tiger or kangaroo costume this Halloween? Get some inspiration by visiting Parc Safari, which offers special activities for the whole family. The themed program promises festive decorations, spooky entertainment and guaranteed surprises. You can also discover the animals in their seasonal habitats, either by visiting the different sections or by opting for the nature safari aboard an electric bush truck.

Admire the symphony of colours

We encourage you, of course, to seek out fall colours at their peak, but remember that you can also appreciate foliage no matter what stage the colours are at! And if you’re looking for guaranteed wow factor at any point in the season, be sure to visit the magnificent Sentier des cimes near Mont-Tremblant! Not only will you be able to admire the endless Laurentian landscape from the top of its famous 40-metre tower, but if you’re brave enough to get there at dawn, you’ll also be able to witness the Thanksgiving Awakening, on October 13.

The Ulverton Wool Mill is a wonderful heritage site! You might be surprised to learn that the site of this wool mill also includes some beautiful trails, which are even more breathtaking in stunning autumn colours. Before or after your walk on these trails, be sure to visit the augmented reality exhibition A Stitch in Time and admire the still-functioning pre-industrial machines.
