The Centre-du-Québec is comfortably laid out on the southern shore of the St. Lawrence River at the heart of the province. The region is an interesting offset to city life and only a short hour away from the large urban centres of Montréal, Québec and Trois-Rivières. The countryside and valleys of the Centre-du-Québec are crisscrossed by long snowmobiling and ATV trails, not to mention some 1,000 km (621 mi) of bike trails. Along the way, a myriad of flavours may be tasted while doing some agritourism with terroir products such as cranberries, cheese, maple and goose products. Not to be missed: the unique show put on by snow geese making a migration stop in both the spring and the fall at Baie-du-Febvre, on the edge of the Réserve de la Biosphère du Lac-Saint-Pierre (Lac-Saint-Pierre Biosphere Reserve). The richness of the region’s heritage is visible when exploring the Route des Antiquaires (Antiques Roadways and Byways) or when piecing into the heart of the Village Québécois d’Antan (Quebec Village of Yesteryear), along with cultural events and festivals that enliven the beat of Centre-du-Québec’s sweet tranquility.
