Via ferrata is an activity somewhere between hiking and rock climbing. It’s a sports route over rock surfaces equipped with cables and ladders that make it easier and safer to travel. Always accompanied by a guide and protected with a helmet and a climbing harness, you’ll follow a life line (steel cable) to which you are attached by karabiners. You can try via ferrata at Canyon Sainte-Anne in the Québec region and in the Charlevoix region at Parc d’Aventure en montagne Les Palissades. In addition, several aerial parks now offer this activity, which originated in Italy. Via ferrata courses often include zip lines and the view is always superb from the top of the cliff! Via ferrata is designed for both adults and children 11 years and older who aren’t afraid of heights.
